With the growing adoption of Linux not only in the enterprise space, but also in the education and government sector it is little wonder that Netcore (now Emergic Solutions) have developed Linux specific solutions.

Speaking to CXOtoday, Kalpit Jain, business head - messaging and security, Emergic Solutions, said, "Linux was our choice for many obvious reasons. Firstly, and most importantly, the system was stable. Secondly, the system was very change friendly. We could modify the kernel as per our requirements. If we were to use Windows instead, the situation would have been starkly different."

Discussing some of Emergic's solutions Jain said, "CleanMail is an Internet based filtering service, which monitors and filters e-mail traffic. More than hundred customers are currently using CleanMail. On the other hand MailServ is a mail server, proxy server, IM server all bundled together, with an inbuilt firewall, anti-spam and anti-virus kit."

Meanwhile, according to Jain, Emergic Topsight, is an information management solution that allows users to organize, analyze, and convert data, which has been collected within the enterprise.

Emergic Freedom provides a full suite of desktop applications, including e-mail, browser, office suite, instant messenger, calendar, contacts. It apparently reduces desktop software costs, by eliminating the need for expensive proprietary software.

Narrating an example, Jain said, "Many users could experience problems with say Windows. To avoid this a central server could be used using Emergic Freedom. The operating system can be centrally installed on the server and can be hosted from the same. This reduces costs substantially and is especially useful for small and medium enterprises which face budget constraints."

Emergic is one among many upcoming vendors with exclusive Linux solutions, indicating that enterprises small and large are deploying Linux.
